Who We Are
Credentia Ventures is a team of geospatial professionals, technologists, and investors led by Sterling Wilson. We are building a leading surveying and geomatics firm to support the continued growth of American industry — and we believe the way to build it is talent first: investing in the people who do this work so they become more licensed, more skilled, and more valuable.
Surveying runs in Sterling's family. His grandfather was a surveyor for the Indiana Department of Soil Conservation, and the respect for the profession stuck: surveyors do exacting, essential work that every project in America is built on. Sterling's own background is in building operating businesses (manufacturing and distribution) as well as real estate development — including adaptive-reuse projects across Philadelphia where he saw firsthand that every successful project starts with a great survey. He holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and holds a Master’s degree focused on Sustainable Development from the University of Pennsylvania.
We began by listening. We've studied the surveying and geospatial market from an operator's point of view — with special emphasis on government and industry contracted work in cadastral, hydrographic, aerial mapping, geodetic control, and GPS machine control — and on the two forces reshaping the industry: rapid technological change (UAV, LiDAR, DTM, BIM, GIS integration, reality capture) and a talent pipeline running below replacement rate.
Our approach is centered on:
Respecting the technical expertise of surveyors and their contribution to society
Pairing modern geospatial technology with deep industry expertise to drive accuracy, efficiency, and value for clients
Investing in education, training, and talent development for surveyors and industry professionals
Aligning incentives between investors, survey company owners, and rising survey talent
These principles come to life in our Talent First commitments and our partnerships with leading firms.
